As we know that most of our customers/ potential customers are true nature enthusiasts, we’ve decided to put together what we think are some of the most thrilling mountains to climb in the US.
Our first suggestion will take you quite far from mainland US, but believe us it will be worth it. Mount Haleakala is situated on the island of Maui, Hawaii, and is a top spot for stargazing. Moreover, given Hawaii’s volcanic scattered landscape, a hike on mountain Haleakala will present you with some dramatic sceneries. Also keep in mind that Haleakala is considered a sacred mountain by native Hawaiians so pay your respects and enjoy your climb.
Next on our list is Mount Shasta in California. Considered by many as one of the more adventurous mountain destinations in the US, Shasta has to offer one truly diverse landscape. Trekking routes will take you over breathtaking scenery with glacial features, snowfields and so forth. Be sure not to miss out on this terrific destination!
Longs Peaks, situated in the Rocky Mountain National Park, is considered as one of the more technical mountains to climb within the US. Know your limits when deciding to tackle this mountain peak as it will present some challenging sections. Nonetheless, the satisfaction of conquering Longs Peaks is one special feeling.
Mount Rainier, with its 14.411 feet high summit, continues our list of technical ascents. Although not far away from Seattle, a climb on Mount Rainier is no easy endeavor. You must first travel to one of the largest glaciers of the Lower 48 and base your ascent from there. Not an easy task, but a rewarding one to say the least!
As one of the highest mountains in Maine, Mount Katahdin will offer you some of the most exhilarating trails within the US. The infamous “Knife Edge” trail is the perfect example, with its narrow track that slithers through the mountain, cutting through thousand foot deep gorges. Write down Mount Katahdin as it will surely provide you with an intense climbing experience.
Our final suggestion is …[drum rolls] …New Hampshire’s Mount Washington! Mount Washington has the reputation of being one of the more inhospitable places within the States, with fast and intense changes of weather. As a matter of fact, Mount Washington holds the record for the highest winds on Earth, with squalls reaching a dazzling 231 mph. It goes without saying that Mount Washington is only for those experienced climbers. Train yourself though, for the satisfaction of overcoming all that nature has to throw at you to eventually reach the 6.288 peak is one you should experience at least once in a lifetime.
Thank you for taking the time to read our suggestions and we wish you a safe and exciting climb. And remember that safety always comes first, so do check some of our products that are bound to make your ascend both safe and fun.
